The Samoki weavings

The Igorots, a mountain people, are mostly peasants. They cultivate rice and can only manage one harvest per year. On rainy days, women weave. Ancestral methods are used to create an extremely solid weaving. Still used under its primitive forms for the people's clothing, it is now also made into bags, wallets and other items. Alouette helped the weavers create a label for this production, and helps the commercialization of the products.
